This is the perfect ten day escorted tour of Scotland, taking in spectacular landscapes, historic castles and the beautiful islands of Skye and the Orkneys.

You’ll have time to explore regal Edinburgh and stroll the Victorian town of Pitlochry. You will see beautiful lakes and stunning coastal vistas. And you will discover the complex and fascinating history of Scotland from the pre-historic Ring of Brodgar in the Orkey Islands to majestic Dunrobin Castle via the Battlefield of Culloden. You can relax at the end of your tour with a fun whisky tasting and a cruise on Loch Lomond.

Your tour starts in Edinburgh, beginning by meeting your fellow travellers at a fun-filled Scottish evening with traditional entertainment

Day 2


In the morning enjoy a locally guided tour of this regal city. You will visit Edinburgh Castle, the home of the Scottish Crown Jewels, and Holyroodhouse which is the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh and the former home of Mary Queen of Scots. You have the afternoon free to explore the city at your pace.

Day 3

Edinburgh – St Andrews – Pitlochry - Inverness

Travel to the beautiful town of St Andrews which gave the world the game of golf, and see the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and famous Old Course. Continue to the vibrant Victorian town of Pitlochry where you will be able to enjoy the old-world appeal of the traditional shops and tea rooms. Travel on through the rugged Highlands, pausing to watch a traditional farmer work his sheep dogs. Continue north to Inverness where you will spend the night.

Day 4

Inverness - Thurso

Visit Culloden Battlefield where in 1746 a battle of just half-hour changed the course of Scottish history. Your next stop is the historic and picturesque Dunrobin Castle – family seat of the Earl of Sutherland and his ancestors for over 700 years. After admiring this fairy-tale castle, you will experience a fascinating falconry display in the formal gardens overlooking the North Sea. Continue to Thurso where you will spend the next two nights

Day 5

Thurso – Orkney Islands - Thurso

Today will be spent in the Orkney Islands, beginning by taking a  ferry crossing when you will be able to watch the abundant bird life and perhaps seals and porpoises. A local guide will take you around the magical Orkney’s which for many years were a Viking stronghold off the coast of Scotland. You will visit the remains of a Neolithic village built at the same time as the Great Pyramid in Egypt, in the picturesque setting of Skara Brae. Then you will see the Ring of Brodgar on the way to Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney Islands, a viking town founded in the year 1040. Then you will take the ferry back to Thurso on the mainland.

Day 6

Thurso – Loch Ness - Ballachulish

Journey south through the wild landscapes of the Highlands, taking in the panorama of infamous Loch Ness. Admire the spectacular view at the striking ruins of Urquhart Castle. Continue through the Great Glen, which is a series of lakes running for 62 miles, until you reach the lovely Loch Linnhe. Here you will check into your lakeside hotel for the next two nights.

Day 7

Ballachulish – Isle of Skye - Ballachulish

Today you will take the stunning journey along the “Road to the Isles” and over Skye Bridge to the celebrated Isle of Skye, and survey the dramatic views of the Cuillin Hills. You will visit Armadale Castle and the Museum of the Isles. This is a fabulous estate where you can explore the historic gardens around the castle, and also learn about the history of the Highlands and Islands through the story of Clan Donald over 1500 years. Return to the mainland with a scenic ferry crossing, and see Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie rallied the clansmen for battle during the 1745 rebellion. This evening you will delight in a dinner at a local restaurant where traditional favourites are give a modern twist.

Day 8

Ballachulish – Glasgow

Take the breathtaking drive through the Heart of Scotland through Glencoe and across Rannoch Moor. Enjoy a break in Callander, a charming town on the banks of the River Teith, where you can peruse the appealing shops and cafes. You will then visit one of Scotland’s renowned distilleries and be able to sample the world’s finest malt whisky. A final afternoon on a cruise of Loch Lomond, the largest lake in Britain brings your sightseeing to a close. Enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travelers and toast your Scottish experiences.
