Historic, beautiful and laidback

Malta’s sun-soaked streets are perfect for a European holiday. Enjoy the jostle of locals and travellers exploring the harbour, stopping by a small café for an ice cream or cannoli, or take a short boat ride to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and capital city, Valletta, with its historic attractions and array of restaurants. There are gorgeous rocky beaches and cove where you can sunbathe by the gin-clear sea, and we love visiting the Azure Window for a boat ride amongst the limestone caves.

Mixing Sicilian and Middle Eastern flavours, Maltese cuisine is hearty and delicious, while the resort towns of Sliema and Saint Julian’s offer a mix of restaurants and bars for every taste. The Mediterranean climate makes this a popular spot all year round – the summer months can be quite busy, but head here in May and October and you’ll still enjoy warm temperatures and sunshine.

Our Content Creator Hazel travelled to Malta recently, ‘What could be better than warm sunshine, exploring historic attractions and eating delicious food? We loved taking a day trip to the neighbouring island of Gozo – it’s such a beautiful island steeped in natural beauty. For a special evening, head to Wigi’s Kitchen for succulent steaks and fabulous wine. We also loved exploring the fortified city of Mdina and discovering Game of Thrones filming locations on the islands of Malta.’

Why visit Malta?

  • History buffs will love transporting back in time, strolling through the cobbled streets and gazing at Renaissance cathedrals, churches and Baroque palaces. The city of Valletta, is a charming city boasting heritage sites infused with great shops and restaurants, whilst the hilltop fortress Mdina is a wonderful place to explore.
  • Malta’s southern location means it is a haven of glorious sunshine year-round. Take the time to explore the gorgeous coves and beaches – one of our favourites is Ghajn Tuffieha, a peaceful beach with views of the mediterranean sea. Travel to the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino, for stunning natural landscape.
  • Scuba divers flock to the crystal-clear waters framing Malta’s rocky coastlines. Grab your gear and discover the incredible caves and wrecks abundant with marine life, including the beautiful Blue Lagoon.
