On arrival into Fiji, you will be met and transferred to Sonaisali Island and your hotel for five nights – the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Fiji. Adopting a charming beach house style with its thatched roofs and utterly beautiful lagoon-style pool right next to the ocean, this luxury hotel is the perfect place to relax, soak up the sun, and indulge in a handcrafted cocktail or two.
The second day will be spent at your leisure, enjoying thrilling water sports, lounging by the pool or dining on fresh cuisine cooked with ingredients grown from the island’s volcanic soil.
After an early breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on an exhilarating Sigatoka River Safari. The world’s first Jet Boat & Village Safari, this exciting experience is a fantastic way to delve into Fiji’s charming island lifestyle and learn more about the culture.
Your safari will begin with a transfer to the Sigatoka River Safari Jetty, where your guide will inform you with the history of the area and its people. Once at the jetty, you’ll have a quick safety briefing, before hopping on your jet boat to begin your journey. Heading up the Sigatoka River with an interesting commentary from your guide, this is your chance to sit back, relax, and learn more about the Fijian culture.
Soon you’ll arrive at a local village to enjoy a traditional Fijian kava ceremony or a sevusevu, and meet the chief of the village and the village elders. You’ll then take a tour around the village (giving you a chance to ask any questions about village life), before stopping for lunch and entertainment.
In the afternoon, you’ll meander back down the river, before enjoying the exciting signature Sigatoka spins – where the driver will perform cool 360 degree spins with your jet boat.
Navala Authentic Village Tour
Fiji is teeming with fascinating cultures and heritage, and after an early breakfast at the hotel you will embark on a village tour that will immerse you in part of the archipelago’s rich history.
The Fijian villagers of Navala are still living traditionally in thatched roof ‘bures’, nestled into the side of the mountain Ba, where they live on homegrown produce and Fiji’s tropical flora and fauna. Bathing in the Ba River, planting their own food…this is the Navala way to live.
Your tour will begin with being guided around the village by a local guide, learning about the Navala lifestyle and exploring the remote primary school before tucking into a delicious lunch of vegetables cooked in coconut milk, including yams, cassava, and plenty of green vegetables.
The only village to maintain its traditional state, this journey to Navala will certainly be eye-opening and fascinating.
The Sacred Islands
On day five you will transfer to the Sacred Islands to board the Fiji Princess, a cruise ship that will take you to a number of Fiji’s unspoilt islands over the next four nights. Your cruise will begin with a lunch on board, before spending the rest of the day swimming, kayaking, or sunbathing on the beach. In the evening, enjoy a few cocktails at the bar’s happy hour and enjoy the Captain’s Dinner.
The morning will be spent lounging on the sundeck, taking in the views of the Yasawa Islands before arriving at Blue Lagoon – a long stretch of water encircled by islands, creating a vibrant lagoon.
Here you’ll be able to explore Blue Lagoon Cruise’s private beach on Nanuya LaiLai, taking in the beautiful, untouched sceneries before a light lunch and an afternoon of snorkelling, fish feeding, and glass bottom boat tour. One of our favourite pastimes is joining in with a coconut demonstration.
In the evening, you’ll dine on a traditional Lovo meal under the stars, cooked underground in a specially prepared pit, before enjoying a colourful evening of Meke performances.
Sawa-I-Lau Caves and Tamusua
The morning is free for you to continue exploring the private beach, or taking part in an exciting activity, including guided walks ending with a trip to the local’s favourite café ‘Lo’s Tea Shop, wood carving, and basket weaving.
After lunch on the beach, you’ll embark on an exhilarating guided tour through the Sawa-I-Caves, swimming through underwater passages to get a unique view of these limestone caves.
In the evening you’ll arrive at the small village of Tamusua, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular yaqona ceremony, a guided walk through the village, and an authentic Fijian feast prepared by the local village women – all before nipping back on board the ship for a movie night on the upper theatre deck.
Day eight will be spent on Drawaqa Island, where you’ll meet with a Marine Biologist to learn all about the local fish, and the amazing conservation work being partaken by the Vinaka Fiji Volunteer team. If you’re travelling between May and October you’ll be able to feed and perhaps even swim with gorgeous manta rays, whilst those travelling from October to April will enjoy a guided Reef Safari snorkelling tour.
Your last evening on board the Fiji Princess will be spent tucking into a delicious BBQ under the stars, dancing along to resident DJ Fiji Afro Jack’s tunes well into the night.
Day 9 - 14
Musket Cove Island Resort
Today your cruise will end in Port Denerau, where you will transfer by boat to the secluded Malolo Lailai islet in the Mamanuca Islands for a wonderful five-night stay at Musket Cove Island Resort.
Offering an authentic island experience and true barefoot luxury, this beautiful beachside resort is perfect for unwinding and enjoying the views. With rustic bures scattered along the sugary sand beach, a stay here is secluded, intimate and very laidback indeed.
There are plenty of activities to enjoy should you fancy a more active few days, including a variety of complimentary water sports and twice daily snorkel excursions, or you could simply indulge in a revitalising treatment at Makare Wellness Spa. Each day you’ll have a great variety of delicious restaurants to choose from too, including fresh seafood at Dick’s Place Bar & Bistro, or casual BBQ food at Musket Cove Yacht Club Island Bar.
