Public Holidays - If you're traveling during a Chinese public holiday, expect large crowds at tourist sites and possible disruptions to transport and business operations. Golden Week holidays, the major holidays, occur from April 29 - May 3 and September 30 - October 7.

Luggage - Travellers are limited to two items of luggage each - a maximum 20kg suitcase and maximum 5kg hand luggage. You will need to carry your own luggage on and off trains, so make sure you can lift your bags.

Tipping - Tipping is customary in China, though knowing who to tip and how much can be unclear. To simplify this, a set amount will be collecred at the start of your tour, which your National Escort distributes fairly among local guides and drivers, including their own gratuity. Yangtze cruise service charges are paid separately upon boarding.

Fitness Level - A reasonable level of fitness is required for this tour, however this is mostly due to spending time on your feet rather than covering distance. This tour includes some walking at an incline, walking up and down steps and getting on and off boats without assistance.
