For decades, Cam Ranh operated as a strategic military bay, which kept large-scale tourism away and left much of the coastline undeveloped. That history is part of what makes it stand out today – resorts have moved in over the past decade, but the beaches remain tranquil.

Why visit Cam Ranh?

• Bai Dai, or Long Beach, runs for roughly 15 kilometres of soft white sand and gentle waves – long enough that you’ll rarely feel crowded, even in peak season. It’s the main stretch that resorts are built along, but there’s still plenty of open beach to go around.
• A bay shaped by its history. Cam Ranh Bay is a crystal-clear deepwater inlet split into an inner, sheltered bay and a smaller outer bay, with fishing boats still anchored along its edges. The surrounding peninsula has temples, seafood restaurants and coconut groves to explore.
• Easy to reach, hard to leave. Cam Ranh has its own international airport, allowing you to enjoy the privacy of the island without a difficult journey to reach it.
• Take a day trip into Nha Trang. Long Son Pagoda, dating back to 1886, is known for having the largest Buddha statue in Vietnam, a towering white figure reached via a steep flight of steps and looking out over the city. A short ride away, Nha Trang Cathedral was built in the 1930s in French Gothic style, with stained-glass windows and a bell tower overlooking the sea — the two sites are easy to combine into a single half-day out.
