Details

Deluxe 3 Country View Rooms
Wake up to crisp mornings and a view of the mist rising off the hills of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand from the Deluxe Three Country View Rooms’ palatial balconies. Lustrous teak floors and rich Thai silks make for spaces that exude quality, refinement and good taste.

The air of elegance indoors brings together many local design features to perfectly complement the dramatic vistas outside, the hue of warm brown tones contrasting with the region’s vivid greens. This enveloping natural scene also comes with modern luxuries like flat screen satellite TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, a king bed with down duvet, an oversized terrazzo bathtub and a collection of additional luxury amenities.

Cycling
Start the day with a ride to nearby Sai Thung reservoir; an unforgettable and invigorating mountain-biking experience whether you’re a beginner or seasoned athlete.

Elephant Camp
Designed as a traditional northern Thai Mahout (elephant trainer) village, our onsite working Thailand Elephant Camp is the setting for our most sought after Golden Triangle resort activities, offering the chance to interact with elephants in a stunning natural environment while helping to contribute to the conservation efforts of the resort.

Elephant Trekking
Rated amongst the finest Chiang Rai resorts Anantara Golden Triangle offers its guest the chance to discover the region the way it was meant to be explored: from atop an elephant. Our acres of bamboo jungle and riverside trails are the setting for leisurely ambles atop these gentle giants. Start your day with a morning trek along the Ruak River – as close to Burma as you can get without a passport.

Fitness
Surrounded by the lush forest landscape, a fully equipped fitness center is located onsite, complete with treadmills, exercise bikes, weights equipment (including free weights) and even an indoor squash court.

Lanna Cooking School
Learn the delicate art of Thai cuisine, including some distinctly northern specialties. Visit the local market with the chef, learn to choose fresh produce and indigenous ingredients, then spend the morning preparing rustic but delectable curries, soups, appetizers and traditional desserts.

Native Tree Planting
Contribute to Anantara’s conservation work and leave behind a noble monument to your visit that will last for years to come. Plant a tree at Anantara and help us keep the local environment green. We’ll print a plaque or dedication with your name and care for your tree until you visit again.

Yoga Classes
Enrich your mind, body and soul with the power of Hatha yoga. Be guided by our qualified and nurturing instructors through a series of age-old breathing techniques and gentle stretching and bending postures. One of our most special Golden Triangle resort activities, these classes are perfect for beginners or experienced yoga practitioners, and you can even book tailor-made classes either in your room or overlooking the resort’s stunning surroundings.

Spa
Unwind in the serenity of Anantara’s signature Chiang Rai spa. Take a soothing breath of fresh air in the picturesque mountains of northern Thailand. Anantara Spa translates the natural beauty of three countries into a holistic experience, every treatment and facility emanating tranquility and self-discovery. Terrazzo and teakwood suites set above the Thai and Burmese jungle provide the idyllic sanctuary to begin the spa journey of your choice. Let Anantara take you on a journey that relaxes, restores, and revives. Our treatments are designed to address full body, mind, and soul healing. Whether based on ancient Thai remedies or techniques from around the globe, using simple natural ingredients or science’s most innovative combinations, these carefully crafted rituals are waiting to transform you at Anantara Golden Triangle Spa.

Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park: Five kilometers from Chiang Rai’s center, this park/museum was founded by the late Princess Mother, who purchased the 140 rai plot to help assist youngsters from rural areas.

Chiang Sean: The northern part of Chiang Rai was the ancient Lanna capital, and today stands as a historical park, complete with awe-inspiring ancient monuments in the region’s signature rust-colored stone.

Doi Tung: Rising 2,000 meters above sea level, this revered mountain is home to several historical sites, including Doi Tung Palace, Mae Fa Lung Flower Garden and the Wat Phra Doi Tung Holy Relic.

Wat Rong Khun: Known as the ‘White Temple’, this remarkable structure is the life-time’s work of living artist Chaloemchai Khositphiphat, who continues to add to his Opus even today. The ornate white structure contains the glorious ordination hall, Phra Ubosot, which glitters with silver shards of mirror.

The Golden Triangle: The magnificent stretch of country where the Mekong and Ruak Rivers converge, and right where you will find Anantara Golden Triangle. The region is composed of three corners of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos, and features many ancient structural remains.

Wat Phra Kaeo: The ‘Emerald Buddha’, Thailand’s most revered Buddha image, was once housed in this wonderful temple.

Hall of Opium and Golden Triangle Park: The Golden Triangle was one time a hub of Opium production, and documenting this fascinating history is the Hall of Opium, which sits directly opposite Anantara Golden Triangle Resort.

Elephant Camp
An elephant ‘drive’ at sunrise. A dip in the river. Treks through bamboo groves and rice paddy. A rare glimpse at life in a traditional mahout’s village. The Elephant Camp at Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa is designed along the lines of the traditional mahout’s villages found in the hills of Northern Thailand in the days when logging employed the majority of Thailand’s elephants.

The Royal Thai Government, with Royal support, set up the Thai Elephant Conservation center (TECC) to act as a central body for the conservation of elephants, both domestic and wild and the communities that depend on them for their livelihood. Anantara Golden Triangle is proud to host the Northern extension of the center’s activities.

A true highlight of the Anantara Experience at Anantara Golden Triangle, our Elephant Camp and its resident cast of jumbo beauties offers our guests a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with these gentle giants. Some of the activities on offer include:

Elephant Driving
A skilled mahout can guide his elephant through its working day with around 70 soft commands, light touches behind the ear and years of understanding between the elephant and his master. But did you know that anyone can drive an elephant? A short half-hour lesson will teach you the basic commands and actions, give you the thrill of riding on the neck of this magnificent beast and having it respond to your commands.

Elephant Trekking
A trek through our forest will include many habitat types from thick bamboo to riverine flood plain and an ideal chance to see the birds and small mammals that inhabit the area.

Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa is proud to be the site of the most idyllic pools in all of Asia, frequently highlighted in the global travel media. Float in the infinity edged pool looking down over the tree canopy towards the Mekong River and up to the green hills of Myanmar and Laos. Alternate with a soothing soak in the adjacent Jacuzzi.

Dine at Anantara Golden Triangle’s glorious Chiang Rai restaurants. Rich northern Thai curries and surprising Thai wines. Candlelit dinners of homemade Italian pasta overlooking the green hills of the Mekong Valley. Chiang Rai dining at Anantara Golden Triangle Resort is a culinary journey through centuries of Lanna culture that sits alongside Old World European favorites at two of the Golden Triangle’s best restaurants.

Sala Mae Nam (Northern Thai/Thai)
Feast on traditional northern Thai food as well as cuisine from other parts of the country at Sala Mae Nam restaurant. Its magnificent terrace is covered by a lofty ceiling and surrounded by dramatic views over the landscape. Chef’s signature dish is the famed Khao Soi Gai, a delicious northern-style yellow noodle coconut curry with chicken.

Baan Dahlia (Italian/Mediterranean)
The contemporary setting of Baan Dahlia is accented with rustic Thai details and stunning views over the Mekong Valley that make for an unforgettable Golden Triangle dining experience. The Italian and Mediterranean cuisine is complemented by an extensive wine cellar with offerings from around the world. Chef’s specials include Signature Caesar Salad spun tableside and Parmesan Spaghetti prepared tableside in a whole parmesan wheel. Alternatively, design your own flavors from Fruitti di Mare, black truffle cream, Carbonara, Trapanese pesto with Parma ham, tiger prawns with pesto and pine nut.

Elephant Bar and Opium Terrace
When evening falls, this is the place to meet. Sit beside a fireplace that is kept ablaze throughout the winter season or outdoors on the terrace around an open hearth. Swap vacation adventure stories over a gin and tonic with light snacks, or sample an inventive cocktail prepared by our friendly mixologists, served alongside hearty fare such as the signature Anantara Gourmet beef burger: prime Angus beef on a toasted ‘Sesame Kaiser Bun’ with crisp green leaves, tomato, cucumber, fried egg, Swiss cheese and mushroom.

Dining by Design
Dine in any location you desire, be it the lower terrace overlooking the mighty Mekong, verdant rice paddies or alongside baby elephants in bamboo forests at our Elephant Camp. Anantara Golden Triangle Resort’s dining by design program allows you to choose from a range of mouth-watering menus and to eat your dinner in a location that truly embraces the region’s glorious, serene landscape.
