Beginning and ending in Dublin, you can explore Ireland at your own pace. Discover the rich history of this fascinating country, the setting of many literary classics and backdrop to memorable movies. Enjoy a warm welcome at the historic Abbeyglen Castle Galway where you will spend two nights, relax in charming B&B’s for two nights each in Killarney and Limerick.

Enjoy the craic in vibrant Dublin then escape to scenic Connemara with its many lakes, granite mountains and isolated thatched cottages on heather covered hillsides. Immerse yourself in the history of the Dingle Peninsula and admire views of the stunning Lakes of Killarney. (ABT)


Day 1


Arrival at Dublin airport where you will pick up your hire car, then drive into Dublin to the Sandymount Hotel where you will stay overnight. Enjoy a tour of this fascinating city, with highlights including Christchurch Cathedral and Trinity College where you can view the Book of Kells.

Day 2

Dublin - Galway

Spend the morning exploring Dublin, perhaps visiting St Patrick’s Cathedral where the author of “Gulliver’s Travels” Jonathan Swift was once Dean. You could also tour the Old Jameson Distillery, where you can enjoy a special tasting to compare the most popular Irish whiskies with Bourbon and Scotch. Later in the afternoon leave Dublin to head to Galway and the historic Abbeyglen Castle the  where you will be staying for the next two nights, enjoying the warm hospitality in this enchanting setting.

Day 3

Connemara Region

Today you can discover the Connemara Region which was the spectacular setting for two classic films “The Quiet Man” and “The Purple Taxi”. This is a region of contrasts with isolated thatched cottages set on heather covered hillsides and hundreds of lakes creating a fisherman’s paradise.

Day 4

Galway - Kerry

Depart for Kerry this morning, travelling through the heart of County Clare – the Burren region. The Burren is a geological paradise with thousands of plant species. Admire the spectacular Cliffs of Moher rising 600 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Then continue through the heritage town of Kilrush, and board a ferry (additional cost) enjoying the views as you sail to Tarbert in north County Kerry. You will overnight at a charming B&B in the Killarney area.

Day 5

Ring of Kerry

Today tour the spectacular Iveragh Peninsula, taking in the beautiful scenery of mountains, lakes and magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. Pass through the picturesque villages of Killorglin, Waterville and Irish-speaking Sneem, and visit Daniel O’Conells birth place at Cahersiveen. The road continues with wonderful views of the beautiful Lakes of Killarney. Enjoy another relaxing night in the Killarney area.

Day 6

Dingle Peninsula - Limerick

Tour the Dingle Peninsula which films such as “Far and Away” and “Ryan’s Daughter” were made. The Peninsula has an extraordinary number of ancient forts, high crosses and other intriguing monuments. Dramatic views can be found at every turn, including the spectacular sight of the Blasket Islands from Slea Head. Tonight will be spent at a B&B in the Limerick area.

Limerick - Dublin

Return to the Dublin region and you can choose to visit the wonderful Birr Castle Demesne, home to the Earl of Rosse and his family. Here you can visit the fascinating Historic Science Center which charts the time when Birr was the hub of scientific discovery in the 1800’s. You can also see the awe-inspiring “Great Telescope”, which was created by the Third Earl of Rosse in 1840, the largest telescope in the world until the early twentieth century. You will be staying in the Dublin area this evening, so perhaps you can return to the city for some last minute shopping in Grafton Street or visit the Guinness Storehouse for a tour and a taste.
